Nutbush City Limits: Romance Was Born's "granular" film collab with Kris Moyes

Last night in Sydney, Romance Was Born's Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales unveiled City Limits, a short film directed by Kris Moyes. Shot over one day in Sydney and starring local model Tanja Gacic, it's a fantastic - and hilariously camp - little collaboration that was designed to showcase RWB's Autumn/Winter 2010 Nightmare on Wall Street collection (but which will now be shopped to the film festival circuit by production company Revolver Films). A little less Freddy Krueger than you might anticipate - and a little more Blade Runner-meets-Kill Bill-meets-The Rocky Horror Picture Show - City Limits portrays Gacic as a DayGlo Spandex-clad corporate assassin who goes postal at a cocktail party. Best moment: Gacic clubbing Guy Pearce-lookalike Matthew Charleston with a decapitated head. The impressive crew includes cinematographer Danny Ruhlmann (Little Fish) and 1st AD Deb Antoniou (Where The Wind Things Are). Below are a few screen caps. A chat with Miranda Kerr at David Jones

Anyone who was following me on Twitter this morning would have seen a series of Twitpics taken backstage before the David Jones show (you can find on the Twitpic link to the right). I had just over one hour to get in and out and then head to Today Tonight to start work, so unfortunately time was extremely limited and I didn't get to see the show. Managed to squeeze in another video chat with Miranda Kerr (which was supposed to stream live, however the connection failed), in which she talks bankers, business, organic skincare, nudity - and pretty much confirms the whisper that she's about to make a sophomore appearance on Balenciaga's runway come March 3. Nice to see David Jones so graciously welcome a blogger backstage today (inviting a few more to the show itself would be a great idea). DJs will also make footage of its show available to the public from tomorrow. Just register for e news at www.davidjones.com.au. And, frockwriter hears, we may see the show streamed live next season.

Cooper cocks his Revolver

Ah Wayne Cooper. Has there been another Australian designer with a more colourful resumé? Cooper's was the very first runway show of the first Australian Fashion Week back in 1996. In 2000, he was the first of the new Oz fashion guard to show at New York Fashion Week (never to return). One minute he's in voluntary administration, a matter of months later narrowly escaping being bombed in Bali. Next he's convicted of assaulting his wife. Now they're back together. It's a little hard keeping up. Nice to see him back on his feet with a veritable Wayne label stable, that's comprised of Wayne Cooper, Wayne by Wayne Cooper, Wayne mens, Wayne Youth, Wayne Jr and Wayne shoes, bags and sunglasses. Behold a sneak peek at what frockwriter is informed is Cooper's first ever brand campaign. It celebrates his Eighties-nosed Autumn/Winter 2010 collection, 'Revolver' and will feature as POS material in-store. Shot by Georges Antoni, it was styled by Kelvin Harries, with hair and makeup by Natasha Severino and stars Annabella and Broed (from respectively, Chadwicks and Priscillas, surnames TBC).
